Mahalo to everyone who attended HiRUC community meetings in March, April, and May! We appreciate your time, feedback and and continuing interest.
Please view the slide presentations from HiRUC community meetings held throughout the state. We also invite you to view the April 18 recorded online meeting if you missed the opportunity to attend in person.
HDOT and the HiRUC project team learned from the residents who attended and generously shared their time and thoughts. Frequent input included: concerns about the impact of a road usage charge on rural residents and long-distance commuters, suggestions to raise more road funds from visitors, doubts whether a road usage charge would replace the gas tax, and questions about how a road usage charge would work.
Comments and questions are available from the first half of the meetings, along with responses. This draft report will be updated with comments and questions from the second half of the meetings in June.
The community meetings were only the start. Many opportunities to provide feedback remain, including surveys and test driver volunteer opportunities. Please join the e-newsletter to stay informed, and send your comments anytime.
